Study Tips

Studying is not the most fun activity to do, so I will share some tips on how to make it more interesting! Feel free to comment with some of your favorite studying hacks!

1) Flash Cards:

Flash cards are a great way to study things like definitions, facts, and terms. You can use them wherever you want because they are small and portable. It is also fun to get colorful flash cards to mix it up a little, or to color coordinate certain topics.

2) Take Breaks:

It is important to take breaks when studying. It takes time to process new information, so taking small 5-minute breaks for about every 30 minutes of studying is a great way to take a breather and gain room for new facts. Breaks are also a great way to boost your energy so you don't fall asleep while reading long chapters in textbooks (it has probably happened to all of us at one point or another).

3) Snacks:

Yes, that's right; snacks! Snacks are a great motivator for studying. You can set a goal for a time period to study, and then plan a snack as a reward for if you meet that goal. It can be also fun to put little snacks on paragraphs of your textbook, and eat the snack when you reach it in your reading (I'm sure many of you have seen that on pinterest).

4) Drink Cold Water:

Now this might sound weird, but it really works! If you drink cold water while studying, it can help refresh and wake you if you are feeling a little sleepy. Cold water has been shown to make people more alert, so drink up!

5) Study With Other People:

There are many benefits to studying with other people, such as studying more than you might by yourself, having people there to clarify questions, and making new friends! I have made friends in some of my classes simply by asking if they wanted to study together for that class. In return, we have done better on our exams, and we now like hanging out together!

That's it for now, but there are plenty more tips/hacks out there to help you study. Just remember to not get too stressed out about studying, and find ways to make it more interesting and new. I hope you enjoyed these tips. Tell me how it goes when you try them out in the comments!
